ACTION 1: Urge Senator Wiener to oppose AB 813

On Monday, August 13th, Sen. Wiener will vote in the CA Senate Appropriations Committee on AB 813, which would cede California's authority over appointing the board members who run California's electricity market to the Trump Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), whose members all have ties to the coal and fossil fuel industry. Please call Senator Wiener this weekend or early Monday morning to urge him to vote NO on this bill- he is still undecided!

Call script is below:

"Hello, my name is _______ and my zip code is _______. I am part of Indivisible SF.

I am calling to ask Senator Wiener to oppose AB 813, which would cede California's authority over appointing the board members who run California's electricity market to the Trump Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), whose members all have ties to the coal and fossil fuel industry.

AB 813 would create a Western regional grid of major coal states, which would replace the California corporation that runs our system and allow a new regional group to control California's electricity choices.

iven Trump's promotion of the coal industry, shackling California to major coal states would undermine California's progress in clean energy. We should no more trust the Trump FERC to pick the people who would run California's electricity system than we trust Scott Pruitt to run the EPA. That is why Senator Wiener should vote no on AB 813."

ACTION 4: Postcards for Indivisible SF

Here are some great postcarding opportunities you can help out with right now:

Sneaker Blue Wave: CA CD1 really needs our help. They have been badly hurt by the fires, their phonebank hub was down for a week. But people are still getting mail! The candidate, Audrey Denney, is fantastic, and it couldn’t be easier to be active---they will provide you with cards, mailing labels and the message, you write the cards and provide postage. Contact Cindy Ellsmore or Stephanie Nix at info@postcardstoCD1voters.org.

September Swell: Orange County Indivisible is currently postcarding to recruit volunteers. The Harley Rouda campaign (to defeat Dana Rohrabacher, Russia's favorite congressman) will gear up in September; contact Sara Lowell at resist@ioc48.com.

Rising Tide: Live in the East Bay? Indivisible East Bay has their monthly postcard party this coming Sunday Aug 12, contact Ted and see more info at their Facebook event.

And on Wednesday, Aug 15, join us at our Wednesday Wine & Sign happy hour at 6-8pm at Standard Deviant Brewing (280 14th St & Mission) to have a drink, socialize and write letters to GOTV for the midterms. RSVP link coming soon!

And don’t forget - we are working on our November Election Voter Guide. Use this Google form to suggest questions for the candidates in the upcoming election. The deadline to submit your questions is this Thursday.
