Action 1: Postcards of thanks to CA Attorney General Berecca
Thank you, Att'y General Becerra, for standing strong on correctly counting our census.
“What the Trump Administration is requesting is not just alarming, it is illegal,” Becerra said. “The California Department of Justice is putting President Trump on notice: if a citizenship question is added to the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau questionnaire, we are prepared to take any and all necessary legal action to protect a full and accurate Census. This is clearly an attempt to bully and discourage our immigrant communities from participating in the 2020 Census count.” --San Diego Tribune.
Please thank (again) our AG.
Attorney General Xavier Becerra.

Action 2. Save our Libraries!
On February 12, 2018, the White House released the budget proposal for FY 2019. The proposal eliminates funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). IMLS provides more than $183.6 million for libraries through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). The proposal also eliminates funding for the Innovative Approaches to Literacy program, a Department of Education program that provides $27 million for school libraries.
Ultimately, Congress has final say over the budget. Today, let Congress know that federal library funding is important to you and your community. Use the talking points on ala.org/takeaction or visit ala.org/fundlibraries. #FundLibraries #SaveIMLS
