To: the California State Assembly, the California State Senate, and Governor Jerry Brown
Every Californian deserves guaranteed health care. But even with the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act, over three million Californians still lack health insurance. They’re our parents, children, grandparents, neighbors, co-workers, and community members.
The Affordable Care Act is currently under attack leaving even more millions at greater risk of being left uninsured. California has the resilience to lead the nation to provide an amazing example of single payer insurance
That’s why I’m calling on you to enact the Healthy California Act (SB 562), which would create a universal health care system in California. Everyone would be guaranteed the health care they need. Health care costs would go down. And health care decisions would never again be decided by private insurers’ profit margins.
ACTION 2: Donate to opponents of Swing District Republicans who voted for Trumpcare
The House just passed Trumpcare with 35 votes from representatives in Swing Districts. (See the full list.)
Make them regret voting for Trump's disastrous agenda—every donation you make will be split evenly among these 35 Swing District Funds, which will be handed over to the the eventual Democratic nominees running against these Republicans. (10% of the total donation will go to Swing Left's national efforts.)
(If you’d prefer to make a different allocation, just email your donation amount, name, and preferred allocation to email@example.com after you’ve made your donation.)

ACTION #3: SEND LOVE TO LONE ABORTION CLINICS ACROSS THE U.S.
(Note: Thanks to Solidarity Sundays for this action)
As of early May, there are seven states in the U.S. that have only ONE abortion clinic: West Virginia, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kentucky, Missouri, Wyoming. That is almost 10% of states in the continental U.S. Kentucky is on the verge of losing its ONLY clinic—in September a federal judge will determine whether the EMW Women's Surgical Center in Louisville can stay open or not. Today, we will send some love and solidarity to these clinics and the staffers who keep them going.
Write a short note to each clinic, thanking them for their invaluable work and bravery. Ask how you can best support them (be sure to include your return address or contact info if you’d like a reply, esp if you’re using a postcard!)
