If we build homeless housing, won't that just attract more homeless people? I read an article about this cool thing they're doing in Utah; why don't we do that? What about tiny homes?

We know the causes of and solutions to homelessness, but public opinion is based on anecdotes and personal observation rather than facts. This talk will look at some of the most common misconceptions and provide a nuanced, evidence-based response on one of the country's most pressing issues.

Hospitality House 50th Anniversary Celebration (San Francisco)

Hospitality House will be commemorating its 50th year anniversary by “Celebrating the Power of Our Voices, Our Stories, Our Community” on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Green Room of San Francisco’s War Memorial, 401 Van Ness Avenue. Doors open at 6PM until 9PM. Advance tickets are $90 if purchased by Friday, August 4, 2017 and $150 thereafter. Tickets at the door are $200. The celebration will feature a heavy hors d’oeuvres menu, special cocktails, a silent auction, and a program reflecting the rich history and stories of Hospitality House.

Hospitality House’s deep roots in San Francisco’s Tenderloin, Sixth Street Corridor, and Mid-Market neighborhoods began in 1967, when a committed group of volunteers opened our first drop-in center to community residents. Our ability to respond to community challenges is founded upon addressing both the consequences and causes of poverty and homelessness. For five decades, Hospitality House has remained a community institution, drawing its strength from its peer-based model while preserving our working class neighborhoods where all residents are considered community assets. We proudly note that our current Executive Director, Joe Wilson is formerly homeless, and a former resident of Hospitality House’s Shelter Program.

For more information, visit www.hospitalityhouse50th.org or call 415.749.2184. Join us and for an evening of community celebration - be moved, be changed, and be inspired. Hosted by Hospitality House SF

Mothers Fighting Together for Housing and Shelter

1 in 25 public school children are homeless. The city forces children and pregnant women to stay on the streets just to get a shelter bed! They have not provided enough dignified, affordable housing to families; we demand 500 housing subsidies, 2 new shelters, and a halt to forcing families to stay on the streets to access shelter! Join us as we celebrate Mother's Day and fight for housing and human rights!

Questions? Contact Miguel at mcarrera@cohsf.org or (415)346-3740x319
