- Special primary elections will take place in the South Carolina House and Senate. The State Senate District 3 seat became vacant after Kevin Bryant (R) became lieutenant governor. Eight Republicans and zero Democrats filed for the seat. The House District 84 seat became vacant after Chris Corley resigned in January, following an indictment for criminal domestic violence and weapons charges. One Democrat, two Republicans, and one Constitution Party candidate filed for the seat. The special election for both seats is scheduled for May 30. Republicans have a 78-43 majority in the House and a 27-18 majority in the Senate.
